**Chapter 1: My life. Sucks.**
I sat on the edge of a cliff, cool air whisking the heat away from my skin and a hawk circling overhead.
While observing the approaching fleet in the distance I quietly curse the fates–*fuck,* why did i have to be on watch duty today?
I grab the pair of binoculars that my father had given me before he’d set off on some “journey”, it has now been five years and he still hasn’t even sent a letter.
I look through the binoculars, and quickly turn the dial *a lot. I* HATE focussing binoculars.
But for now I shove that annoyance to the back of my mind as I let out a small, Not at all dignified, squeak.
I check again–fucked doesn’t convey how much trouble we’re in.
I jump to my feet–the binoculars forgotten on the ground as I run harder than I thought possible for the village.
My legs scream in pain as I make for the half-mile trek across the hilly terrain, but my responce stays the same, *shut the fuck up, I have more important things to worry about*.
A guard tries to wave me down “What are you doing–” but doesn’t have time to finish as I barrel past him–straight for the town center.
