**Ramble story collection ** \- By Joshua Thayer

Quick explainer: These are some of the funniest, finished, unfinished, polished, unpolished, Ramble stories I’ve written. These Ramble books, or in this case more like stories, are just what flows out of my mind, no planning, no guidelines, no anything. These stories are written spontaneously with no planned length, they could be 5 words or 100\. Overall they take you on random, often comedic storylines.

Ramble book 002:
I finally saved up enough to go on a vacation in this crappy economy, I drive to the airport, get on a plane, Takeoff goes fine, and I start to relax for a long, peaceful flight, but abruptly about 30 minutes into the flight the plane goes into a nosedive, the speakers announce *“Brace for impact\! prepárate para el impacto\!”* And suddenly cuts out. The seatbelt sign hasn’t even turned on yet, but I can tell there’s an emergency. The illuminating lights on the airplane dim for a second, before I hear a loud *Clunk* as the APU drops down and starts generating power. What happened? Why? Don’t ask me, I have no idea…

Ramble book 003:
I just woke up- to confusion, the light is almost blinding as if i’d been sleeping in a dark room for days, and I don’t understand my surroundings.
Actually- let me back up, I- Well how do I put this… I Have… Abilities, I can Teleport, have superspeed, can shapeshift, can make my wildest ideas a reality, etc.
So… You may be asking how I woke up in a lab, tied to a table, surrounded by scientists? Well… I have no idea.

Ramble book 005:
I wake up- To nothing… wait… everything?
Let me back up, I’ve always been gifted in the field of intelligence and stuff, with an IQ of over 300, but one morning I woke up… Different. I could see nothing, Wait. Everything, I could see, no feel, everything in the world- no wait in all existence, I’m omnipotent…

Ramble book 006:
So… This is my life, On the run from the police, for a crime I didn’t commit. Like, do they actually think I somehow developed superpowers and immediately killed hundreds when my power went out of control? Well…. I guess that did happen, but I didn't mean to do that…

Ramble book 008:
So… I’m a Superhero, and no, I’m not delusional.
But it’s not as much as a nice plush job as it’s made out to be-
*“What do you mean?”* you may be asking. Well you try having a good work-life balance when you’re on call to travel hundreds of miles in order to stop the destruction of the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, Can’t? Well I have to, or I can’t have a Work-Life balance at all since there would be no world. Get my situation now? Vacation? Nah, I don’t get that.

Ramble book 007:
**Chapter 1**
So… I died… And no I’m not joking, I was dead as a doornail, 0BPM, everything, and it’s not like my heart stopped for a few minutes and I was revived, No, I was dead for days…
But then that suddenly changed when I was awaken from my peaceful slumber by an experiment, And no I’m not joking, I woke up, In a lab, tied to a cold metal table tied down
with leather straps and machines surrounding me, and a stunning lady in a lab coat standing over me staring at me with a look of gleeful surprise on her face, *“It worked”* she shouts gleefully, My body feels… well just wrong, like I’m inhabiting an already rotting corpse, which to be fair, I kind of was, but it was still weird. I try to get up but the restraints stop me, I continue to struggle, but I don’t feel any pain when I press against the restraints, just pressure, no pain. The woman speaks again *“Now, now, calm down, you were dead for 5 days, don’t expect to be up on your feet anytime soon”* I freeze, 5 Days? How could I have been dead for 5 days and be back up again, I just stare at the scientist with a confused look on my face, she continues *“and don’t strain yourself, It’s already a miracle my experiment worked and I was able to bring you back”* I can’t feel anything but I try to speak, what comes out is broken and raspy, barely audible *“why?”* That one word, that one simple question, the one and only thing I wanted to know; Why?

**Chapter 2**
*“Why?”* she repeats the question to herself, she is silent for a moment *“for the advance of science”* For the advance of science? That’s all? No ulterior motives? I speak again my voice still raspy *“How?”* her expression falters for a second as she contemplates how much to tell me. *“Science, I used science”* She gestures around the room *“These machines are currently allowing your body to function, along with that I developed a special… Serum”* A serum? The only thing she invented was a serum, and she was able to reverse death? Wait, how did I die? Who am i? I decide to ask the scientist, my voice still raspy and weak, but beginning to get clearer *“Who- Who am I?”* She seems surprised by the question *“Well… I guess you wouldn’t remember right away after being dead for 5 days…”* She types something on her computer then looks back up at me *“you are… Chase hutchinson, 19”* Chase Hutchinson- my name is Chase. I repeat the name *“Chase Hutchinson”* the name feels familiar on my tongue. Suddenly memories come flooding back, my face goes blank as I realize who I am, and how embarrassing the way I died was, I died from shock after hallucinating A was about to be hit by a bus, and that only happened because I spent 3 nights awake in a row in order to get a limited edition video game. My face suddenly turns red as I remember this. Could there be a more embarrassing way to die?

Ramble story 009:
So… I’m just walking down the street minding my own business when- suddenly- Out of nowhere- A large mushroom cloud blooming in the distance, Followed by a loud **BANG\!** And my eardrums bursting. Suddenly the moment ago peaceful street is thrown into **CHAOS**, cars whose system were disabled By the E1 and E2 EMPs crash into other cars, traffic lights stop, Overhead powerlines exceed their maximum voltage and arc. It’s pure, utter, Chaos.

This concludes the first edition of the Ramble story collection. I plan to continue Writing ramble stories and making editions of this collection. Keep in mind all stories are released on *tgu-admin.wixsite.com/rst-anon* and can be accessed by the public.
