**HELLO READER\!**
This story will be in the genre of Sci-fi. I'm not a Sci-fi writer by any extent, but I’m trying to stretch my limbs and get *out* of my comfort zone. So I’m just here to warn you: I usually write fictional dark psychological horrors or books about superheroes. So some of that fast-paced action style *might* leak into this story.

**Chapter 1**
I woke up to blaring alarms

I sit up too fast and slam my head *right* into the ceiling

Great start\!

I walk out of my quarters trying to ignore the pain

I look around the hallway… It’s completely empty except for–The Captain\!?

*“Captain\!? Is that you? What are you doing down here?”* I say in a started tone over the alarms. The captain rarely comes down to this level–This level is just full of low-ranking officers. Like me…

She looks in my direction–startled she just stares at me and doesn’t answer

I look back at her *“Ma-am? What’s happening? What are you doing down here?”*

She still doesn’t answer but slowly starts the walk towards me *“Captain?”*

She ignores me and outstretches her hand, putting it on my shoulder, a look of surprise appears on her face and she mutters to herself *“You’re real…”*

I just stare at the captain *“What is wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost…”*

She still doesn’t respond and just stares at me for a moment, before–Hugging me\!?

I look at her in shock, my eyes widening *“C–Captain?”* My voice has a confused tone with a hint of panic *“W–What are you doing?”*

She pulls back and stares at me, finally speaking *“You–You’re actually real…”*

*“What do you mean Ma-am?”* I ask her, still **extremely** confused

*“E-Everyone disappeared…”* she says, her voice rough, her eyes watery. I’ve never seen her this panicky, much less crying before.

I look at her in confusion, my eyes still wide with confusion and shock *“W-What do you mean Ma-am?”*

Great\! Stumbling over my words. Guess that disaster preparedness training wasn’t as effective as they said.

Her eyes dart around the room *“Everyone was here one moment.. The next–Gone”*

*“Gone?”* I ask, utterly confused now

*“I don’t know if someone teleported then away, or something else, but…”* She says, nervously
