**Chapter 1: Beginnings**
	First off–-I didn’t ask for this… It just–happened.

	I woke up with superpowers.

Now you may be saying how lucky I am, and “I’d love to have superpowers\!”

But it’s not as glorious are the movies make is look

I’m Jason Reyui, a regular 15 year old. But one fateful Saturday morning all of that changed. When I went to sleep the previous night everything was normal. But when I woke up I felt… weird, like I was dreaming. I sit up and look around my room, focusing on my surroundings. It's still the same messy one I fell asleep to the previous day. Dirty clothes scattered everywhere, an unmade bed, and ramen cups sitting in a pile on my desk next to my monitor. But it still felt–off.
Whatever, I need to get up–or my mom will yell at me. I slide to the side of my bed and slowly stand up, almost collapsing from dizziness. I need to get downstairs, I begin to take a step–and I’m there, I’m suddenly in the living room. I look around in surprise, my eyes widening. Ok, I think I’m awake now. I look at the couch, my mother is sitting there wide eyed staring at me, mouth agape.
“So…” I say slowly “What just happened?”. She doesn’t answer for a moment, probably in shock. After what was likely several minutes she finally speaks “I think… you teleported”. Great, I apparently have superpowers now. What a drag. I blink, unsure if I heard her correctly “I… teleported?” I repeat. “Yes…” she says slowly, looking at me wearily.
I stand there dumbfounded “How…?” I say slowly, still in shock. She doesn’t answer. Great, neither of us has any idea what’s happening. Every possible question raced through my mind. How*? Why? What?*
I start to feel dizzy, my legs wobbling. I need to sit down. I walk over to the couch still not saying anything, and sit down next to my mother. We both sit in silence for a few minutes, both having *no* idea whatsoever what is happening. “So…” I finally say, my voice slow and careful, “What was that…?”. She turns to look at me, her eyes still wide with shock, “I–I don’t know…”.
We both just sit there for a while longer, trying to process what’s happening. This can’t be happening. I continue the rest of my day in silence, brushing my teeth, eating breakfast, reading reddit, and of course randomly teleporting instead of walking. I’m still in denial, it’s impossible, teleportation is physically impossible. How do I keep teleporting then?
Later in the day I get ready for bed, I take a quick shower, I brush my teeth, and of course *somehow* teleport into bed, still not used to that. It takes me a *long* time to fall asleep. My mind races, still trying to figure out what’s happening to me.
I wake up the next morning with the same feeling of grogginess I had the day prior. I sit up and look around the room, nope *still* messy. I shift to the side of the bed, standing up ready to go downstairs. It happens *again.* As soon as I start to take the first step–I teleport right into the middle of the living room *again,* startling my mother *again.* I start to walk towards the kitchen to eat breakfast… Nope, I teleport.
About an hour after I wake up when I’m *finally* not half asleep I hear a knock at the door. I start to walk over… Teleported *again.* I open the door slowly. What I see starts a storm brewing in my gut. Two people in sleek black suits. One a woman–Probably 20-something, the other a man much older. I’m confused at who they are “Who are–” I start to ask before I see a small patch embroidered onto their suits “Person of Interest Containment Unit”. They both have guns–pointed right at me.
I bolt. I run as fast as I can straight past them. They don’t waste a second following me. The girl takes off instantly. I don’t last long. *Now* would be a great time to teleport–but for some reason I don’t.
Great timing.
I get super powers, and **now** is when they decide to ghost me?
I try again–or as much as I *can* try; the teleporting is still pretty random
She catches up with me quickly, running at an almost *inhuman* speed.
I try to speed up, but my legs scream in protest. My breathing is hard, and my legs are about to give out.
*Fun.*
She manages to grab my shoulder–causing me to trip… and fall directly on my face. Kind of anticlimactic, I know. She pins my arms behind my back, using her body weight to hold my body down. She pulls out a pair of handcuffs. My eyes widen “Please, don’t…”, She ignores me, and handcuffs me anyways.
The metal of the handcuffs was cold and metallic, seemingly sapping the heat away from my skin. I start to breathe even *harder* than I did running away from her. My eyes wide, adrenaline pumping through my veins.
“W–Why are you doing this\!?” I ask, my voice tense with fear. She doesn’t answer for a moment, just look at me as if considering how to answer. “You don’t need to know that.” she finally replies. I raise an eyebrow slightly, my eyes still wide, “That’s your answer?”. She sighs “Yes”, as she stands up getting off me.
She pulls me to my feet, my breath catches in my throat, though her touch is surprisingly warm. She pulls me along “Come on, don’t make this harder than it has to be”. I slowly move alongside her, still breathing quickly.
We just walk for a while, not saying anything, The silence tense. “So…” I gulp “Where are you taking me?”. She doesn’t respond, super helpful. I try again “Where are we walking to?”. She finally responds “A transport”.
I gulp “A transport…? What are you–” I start to say before I see it. A large, heavily armoured truck, painted black with large bold white lettering “PICU”. my breath catches in my throat, “That–” she continues “is the transport”.
The side swings open, almost a foot thick the door looks like it’s meant to protect from a nuclear blast. The man I saw earlier is on the other side, hopping out, he stands aside. The woman pushes me forward “Hop in”. I slowly get in, almost falling *several* times, since I can’t use my hands. Finally she sighs, steps into the truck, grabs my arm, and pulls me up like I weigh nothing.
When she pulls me up, I land not-so-gracefully on my face, *again*. I grunt “Can you not make me fall on my face every five minutes?”
She doesn’t laugh, “Get up” she says coldly as she reaches around me and slams the heavy metal door shut with a loud clang.
*Super friendly, such a good attitude* I think sarcastically as she grabs my arm and hauls me to my feet–before quickly shoving me into a seat with large metal straps on either side, swaying in non-existant wind.
She grabs the metal straps on either side of me–and before I can protest straps me into the seat, a dual locking mechanism clicking in unison as they restrict my movement even more.
